Expectations of CHAA Board Members
While the Bylaws contain specific language about the duties of particular officers, not much is said about what other expectations might exist. This list is an attempt to answer the question—“Just what is expected of a CHAA board member.”
The following items
constitute a list of potential expectations: To:
· Join the Association
· Attend meetings regularly
· Voice opinions which promote reasonable solutions and consensus decision-making,
· Provide a conduit or link to the class or classes you may represent,
· Promote the Association to your own classmates,
· Seek ways to personally promote the Association to others,
· Seek positive ways to interact with the Assoc and the school—including its students,
· Take the initiative between board meetings to advance new ideas or concepts that can be placed on the next meeting’s agenda,
· Provide advice and encouragement regardless of position or portfolio,
· Continually look for new creative ways to develop the Association,
· Periodically volunteer to research issues/programs or serve temporarily in some
capacity,
· Work to meet deadlines and suspenses established by the Board,
· Provide literature on the Association as opportunity permits,
· Look for fund-raising opportunities and provide that information to the Board,
